More To Life

by John Robert Hunter

/

about

It is a song for dreamers, who face the choice of staying with those they love or to follow their dreams.Life is tough and we must make choices, sometimes those choices are for love and sometimes not. What are we but slaves to the machine? What was the line in that song that Sting sung? If you love someone set them free. We stay put often because of the feelings of other people and our dreams stay dreams and we live the lie. Prisoners of guilt and shackled by the chains of love. We have such short lives and if we don’t do things within certain times in our lives those opportunities are lost. What is the phrase? You are only young once! Like most people, I work long hours and dream of the weekend.

There must be more to life than just this

lyrics

Verse One
She's working late almost every night,
her lover says he loves her more than life.
But she feels trapped and she sighs,
there must be more to life than just this.

Verse Two
Working late makes her feel real tired.
She feels she could break, the boredom lasts for hours.
Another day of her life,
is passing her by.

Chorus 1
There must be more to life than working here.
More than this.
Its dragging her down,
can she leave this town?
Can she leave him?

Verse Three
She tries to talk, but he don't want to hear.
She must stay, he makes that very clear
and she starts to cry,
don't leave me he sighs

Chorus 2
There must be more to life than working here.
More than this.
Its dragging her down,
can she leave this town?

Chorus 3
There must be more to life than working here.
More than this.
And though its breaking her heart,
its freeing her soul.
The decission was hard,
but she's got to go
Cause its dragging her down,
she's got to leave this town?
Can she leave him?

Chorus 4
There must be more to life than working here.
More than this.
Its dragging her down,
now she's leaving this town,
this is it!

about

John Robert Hunter Salisbury, UK

I am an English singer songwriter based in Salisbury. My music doesn’t fit comfortably in any one genre. Songs like “When Death Divides” has a bit of a Pink Floyd feel to it. Where as songs like “We’ll Leave This Town” is a bit Springsteenish. I love songs that comment on life, that are from the heart, that tell a story. ... more
